The Association of Greek National Guides includes about 1,000 members who are active throughout Greece with school programs, educational institutions, tourism enterprises, organizations and individual visitors.

Tourist guides in Greece are licensed professionals, graduates of the State School for guides.

The duration of the courses is 3 years.The tourist guide members cover 28 languages (Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, Flemish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovakian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish), while most of them (about 58%) are also university graduates. Thus, they can satisfy the requirements of very specialized Audiences in archaeology, history, philosophy, religion, art, architecture etc.
