Hilton Athens for “Together for Children”

Generous hotel guests at the Hilton Athens have actively participated in the charity campaign by Hilton Foundation called «Small Change Big Difference», for the support of the children in need. During the last three months of 2010, Hilton invited its guests to add an optional €1 onto their room bill during their stay for the reinforcement of "Together for Children" ("Mazi Gia to Paidi"), a Union of 10 non-profit Greek Organizations.
"Small Change, Big Difference" is an initiative of the Hilton in the Community Foundation, the charitable arm of the Hilton family of hotels, which was founded in 2000 in order to support children in need. The Foundation's core costs are funded by Hilton Hotels, so every net pound raised goes directly to good causes. The campaign ran simultaneously in 128 hotels in Europe, and each of them supported a local charity organization.
During these three months, Hilton Athens raised a total of €5.007, 80. The General Manager of the hotel, Mr. Bart Van de Winkel, handed over the check to Mrs. Memi Gertsou, Vice President of "Together for Children", during a lunch held at the Byzantinο restaurant in the honor of the Board Members of the Union. Mr. van de Winkel said: «I would like to thank every guest who chose to donate to this campaign. We are delighted to be supporting "Together for Children", which constitutes of 10 organizations working together for one purpose: the support and reinforcement of the people in need». Mrs. Memi Gertsou, Vice President of the Union, stated: «We would like to thank Hilton Athens hotel for its trust and support. In these difficult times we are going through, the non-profit organizations need the support of the business community more than ever, in order to continue their tough and important social role. We hope that more companies will follow Hilton's example in assisting our projects for the children in need».
