Initiative by LG Electronics and Athens International Airport

Athens International Airport

LG Electronics, in cooperation with Athens International Airport, is moving ahead on an initiative that will simplify life for passengers by placing special rapid chargers for mobile telephones and electrical devices in selected areas in the airport. Passengers and busy travellers will be able to reach their friends and loved ones without worrying about battery life.

LG's special rapid charges have inputs for 18 different types of mobiles phones and there is additional power supply for charging laptops, PDAs and other devices. The chargers have been placed in selected locations for easy access in the arrival and departure areas. In a short space of time varying from 3 to 15 minutes, passengers and visitors can charge their devices for free, thus ensuring their ability to remain in constant contact with whomever necessary during their stay or arrival at the airport.

This initiative is part of the Athens International Airport's goal to provide ongoing improvements in the services available for passengers. At the same time, it is part of LG's strategy to protect the environment and improve the quality of life of consumers, as expressed by the company slogan, "Life's good." In addition, LG is one of the manufacturers sharing the views of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on standardisation and has signed the European Commission's Memorandum of Understanding for standardisation and adoption of a common mobile phone charger. LG supports the adoption of such a measure, as it represents a major step in reducing environmental pollution. The company is expected to introduce compatible devices within 2011.
