Newly refurbished, this museum displays some of the ancient world's most significant findings from excavations of the area in which it is housed. The primary findings, objects directly related to the cemetery offer profound insight into the burial customs of ancient Athens. Artifacts include funerary urns and monuments and grave offerings. The museum's collection also includes excellent examples of pottery.

The Benaki Museum's collection of Islamic art ranks among the most important in the world. Housed in the complex of listed buildings located in the historic centre of Athens near the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos, it consists of objects from India, Persia, Mesopotamia, Asia Minor, the Middle East, Arabia, Egypt, North Africa, Sicily and Spain.

The museum of Ancient Market is accommodated in the restored Gallery [Attalou], monument of the 150 B.C. His exhibits have direct relation with the operation of democratic regime of Ancient Athens, since the Market was the heart of public life. The gallery (Attalou) was revealed in the excavations of the Archaeological Company between the years 1859-1902. At the period 1953-56 it was restored and it has been reconstructed in order to accomodate the discoveries of excavations of Market. In 1957 the Greek State undertook the administration and the safety of the Museum and the archaeological space.

The museum's mission is to introduce visitors to the art of the exhibited artist, to show how the artist has evolved through the various important periods in his or her career, to explain the various techniques used by the artist to express his or her vision, and to help the visitors connect to both the artist's life and work. To accomplish this, not only will works of the artist be on exhibit, but also preparatory sketches, drawings, photographs and personal items. Audiovisual and other aids provide complete and detailed information on the life of the artist, each phase of his or her work, and his or her techniques.

The Atelier Spyros Vassiliou aspires to recompose the artistic progression of one of the most acclaimed, reputed and prolific exponents of contemporary Greek art. To this end, the museum disposes of a representative range of Spyros Vassiliou’s works, but is principally concerned with systematizing his exceptionally copious archives. These comprise manuscripts in the painter’s hand; his correspondence, contracts, documents relative to purchases of his works; the preparation and hanging of exhibitions (with their respective catalogues); a comprehensively updated Press archive, as well as maquettes and preliminary sketches for his work.
